Earlier work and experiments

2017–2021 · Full stack and design

Client apps from my consulting years, freelance and Grupo Salinas design, and side projects.

Figma, After Effects, Angular, Ionic, Firebase, React, Stripe, Unity

None of the client sites below is linked, because they’re gone or have changed since I worked on them. The consulting years ran from 2018 to 2021, and the side projects go back to 2017.

Built for clients

Uhremix sold monthly and yearly subscriptions for downloading music. Working directly with the client, I designed its flow from marketing page to purchase and after, and built it front to back in Angular and Express, with Stripe and PayPal. Since it was a music site, I went for a livelier look, laid out separately for web and mobile.

Cadefi was a course platform you signed in to with Google, Facebook or a phone number, and I built it from scratch in Angular and Firebase.

CONACOMEE’s conference app came with a small social network where collaborators posted products and events. I built the PWA and the admin from scratch in Ionic, Angular and Firebase, on a team that had to deliver it fast.

I maintained Bullground, a course app, and added a live trade viewer and course-completion certificates to it in React.

Sign-in and billing came up again in the signup-to-paywall flow I built at Sourcetable.

Grupo Salinas, via UPAX

In 2020 and 2021, before my design work at Sourcetable, I was a senior UI/UX designer at UPAX, on Grupo Salinas projects such as baz, Zeus Tareas and La Master. I redesigned the app for baz, Banco Azteca’s digital bank, and designed new features, including calls and video calls, a sticker shop and a desktop version. For Zeus Tareas, an intranet app, I designed features for package reception and time-off requests. I also redesigned the logo of Carseg, a security company, to be simpler and more modern.

Freelance and brand design

I designed Sneaky, an Uber-style app for booking a sneaker cleaning, in 2018 and 2019. It had animations in Figma and After Effects, and I did user research into which sneakers its customers wore. Besides Sneaky, I designed the SOROBAN, CREAPP, Belly Connect and Universo apps, plus a promotions app for GSS. On the web I designed landing pages for CAOS and atease and a wedding site for two friends. Brand work included the CAOS agency identity and, for Grupo Salinas and GSS, a logo, email signatures and slide-deck templates.

Most of these have Figma files in the design archive, and my design for SOROBAN’s web landing page is on Dribbble.

Side projects

Ironman HUD was a heads-up display on a Raspberry Pi Sense HAT, written in Python, C and, for reasons I still can’t fully explain, Assembler. On OIL App, an iOS app in Swift with AR, VR, 3D models and media playback, I built the frontend and a good chunk of the backend. SexPlained, a school project I designed and built, was a web app for teenagers with sex-ed material to buy and doctors to chat with. For Bye Bastón, a social network for elderly people, I worked front and back in Firebase and HTML.
