Work
The longer stories behind things I built, newest first.
Recent work & side projects
- Dashhound, a dashcam for dogfoodingA browser extension that keeps the last day of my dev tabs. When something breaks, I look back instead of trying to make it happen again.
- Animating an 8-bit chihuahuaTaquito is a 16 by 17 pixel chihuahua. Every state passes through one sitting frame, so any of them can follow any other.
- Visual regression, from zeroReviewers were opening the three screens they guessed a change touched. The app has about 490. I built the thing that opens all of them.
- Parity BenchA judge for AI-built UI that compares components with their Figma frames and names what's off. One pipeline that looked 3× worse was within 1.4%.
- Agents on a leashI let AI agents run on their own, on every push, all day. Here's what it took to keep them useful, honest and cheap.
- Animating nine sidebar iconsNine sidebar icons that move on hover and end on the same picture they start from, so nothing pops when the motion ends.
- Frontend at enterprise scaleBig, old, dense apps used by people who can't afford for them to break. Some of my least glamorous and most useful work.
Sourcetable
An AI spreadsheet, 2022–2026.
- Designing and building SourcetableAn overview of my nearly four years designing and building Sourcetable's product, brand and marketing site.
- The AI chatSourcetable's AI chat sat beside a live spreadsheet, and it had to stay interruptible, because people change their mind mid-answer.
- Signup to paywallHow a new Sourcetable user got from signing up to a first real result, and later to paying.
- The rendering engineWrite the system once, publish thousands of pages, go to lunch. The engine behind Sourcetable's marketing site.
- Design and engineeringI design the things I build. Handy, since it means the person who drew the button is also on the hook for making it work.
